The City of East Mountain is accepting resumes for:


Chief of Police

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills and be able to build trust with all segments of the community; Represent the department before the City government and the community; Attend Municipal meetings; Maintain knowledge of changes in laws, policies and procedures; Remain informed of new methods, trends and developments in law enforcement.



Approximately 50% Patrol and 50% Administrative

Conduct a variety of law enforcement duties including but not limited to:

Provide protection of life and property within the City and will enforce local, State and Federal laws, codes, ordinances and regulations;

Respond to calls for police service within the City and may assist outside agencies if needed;

Interact with and provide assistance to citizens and the general public;

Patrol within the City limits and perform traffic enforcement duties;

Identify moving violations;

Initiate traffic stops;

Issue Citations;

Investigate DWI’s and traffic accidents;

            Direct traffic for accidents, funerals, etc.           

Conduct security checks of homes and businesses;

Detect and deter criminal activity;

Document accurately and complete reports;

            Offence reports;

            Accident reports;

            Arrest documents;

            Probable cause sheets;

            Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports

Attend Municipal Court

Clean and maintain law enforcement equipment and vehicle



Current TCOLE Certification;

Texas Driver's License;

Steady Employment History;

Clear Criminal Record and must pass a background investigation



High school diploma or GED equivalent with some post-secondary education



Full time: Minimum of 40 hours a week. Scheduled hours are flexible. Evening/overnight as needed.



Beginning Salary: $42,500



Dental, Vision, Health, Life, Retirement, Short term and Long Term Disability, Vacation, Personal and Sick days



Full time employees eligible;

Retirement, Personal days and Sick days begin at time of hire;

Complete 90 day probationary period prior to receiving Dental, Vision, Health, Life, Short Term and Long Term Disability

Vacation accrued after 1 year of service
